Wisconsin takes MN vs WI Border Battle
Superior WI - On Wednesday April 10, 2024 the Duluth Amateur Youth Basketball Association (DAYBA) hosted the 16th annual Border Battle between the best players in northern Wisconsin competing against the best players in northern Minnesota. The players were selected by a panel of judges associated with the DAYBA organization.
The game was held at the Superior School District Gymnasium, and it was a great crowd that turned out to cheer on their favorite athletes.
On the boys side, Winter was represented well by Gunnar Greuel, as he was the only athlete to have a fan bus come out to cheer him on. The Winter crowed showed up with their own cheering section and made it known when Gunnar made a great play on the floor.
Wisconsin Wins Border Battle
Team Wisconsin had a squad full of small-school stars, and the most notable athlete on the roster was Isaiah Kastern, as the only athlete with a Division II commitment to play at the next level.
Team Minnesota had multiple athletes with Isaac Asuma, a Minnesota Gopher commit.

Local athlete, Gunnar Greuel, finished the game with 7 points, 8 rebounds, and some tough defense. Ryan Popowich from Bruce started to cook late in the 2nd half to help propel Team Wisconsin to the win as he finished with 21 points.
